The diet laws meant that there were always bakers in the Judengasse. They belonged to respected families. The baker Ziskind Stern, who died in 1719, was also a court factor, and his son Isaac was equally prominent. The Pfau and Goldener Pfau were occupied at times by honeycake bakers, who took their family name Honig from their profession.
